Thus far, we've almost exclusively discussed the benefits of transporting severe trauma cases via air ambulance. America and the rest of the world, however, also recognize that there are other, non-emergency cases in which helicopters or fixed-wing aircraft offer distinct advantages over ground medical transport. For instance, patients who are considered medically unstable may not technically meet the definition of a critical case; however, there are certain circumstances in which quick and uninterrupted treatment is essential. In these situations, an aeromedical evacuation can ensure that their medical care in Mexico will go uninterrupted during transport to another health facility in an individual's home country.
Non-emergency transport might also be necessary when a patient cannot sit comfortably during a commercial flight or cannot sit for an extended period of time. In addition, distances of more than a couple hundred miles.
In South America, as on other regions of the world, emergency health services are often rendered on a cash-only basis. As one can imagine, this places many foreign visitors in a difficult, sometimes perilous, position both in terms of physical well-being and financial health. With Global Life Flight's emergency medical services, know that you have on less worry when it comes to paying for medical care in Mexico. Although, like other health facilities, we do accept checks, cash, credit and bank transfers, we also work with our patients and directly with their insurance to get coverage for medically necessary transport.
Global Life Flight continues to reach out to the world, offering an ever-expanding network of bases to better serve travelers and facilities worldwide. Our air ambulance America service includes our world base located in San Diego, and we are also stationed in a number of major cities around the globe where our transport is most needed. Our "Operation Bases" page includes a graphic mapping of our bases.
