Comparing medical air evacuation companies

As addressed in a previous article, cost should never be the sole or primary factor in the selection of an air medical evacuation service. Although Global Life Flight does offer its customers a reasonable rate for top-notch care, we know that there are too many other more important characteristics to address to let money be the deciding factor.

To narrow the search, only consider medical air evacuation providers with credible industry associations. In other words, check to see that the company has one or more certifications that would indicate adherence to professional standards.

Examine a service provider's safety record for flaws. Safety records should be spotless; anything else could indicate sub-par aircraft medical ambulance services, inexperienced pilots or unsafe practices. In addition, ask companies to provide information about the types of aircraft they use and whether their pilots are specifically trained and certified to fly those aircraft. Ask for specifics about how flights are staffed and about the level of experience of the health care professionals on staff. This is vital because many companies that have flight doctors employ physicians who are still in training.

Insurance for air medical evacuation

We at Global Life Flight welcome such scrutiny because we know that we will always hold up well against other medical air evacuation services. We are proud to hold memberships in such prestigious industry organizations as USTiA, AAMS, THIA, ARC Transistance and AMPA, and to be in good stead with these organizations. Our air medical evacuation pilots, nurses and physicians all have years of experience in their professions and in flight care, and staff only the most modern and meticulously maintained aircraft.
